Dennis Roddy hooks up with Tom Corbett

Professionally, that is…

Dennis Roddy, a fixture of Pittsburgh journalism for nearly four decades, is leaving the [Post-Gazette] and taking a job in the fledgling Corbett Administration.

“It was time for me, at age 57, to find out if I possess any transferable skills,” says Roddy. (CP Slag Heap)

This is the point at which I would post video of one of Roddy’s hilarious musical productions for the Post-Gazette, if these weren’t A) hiding behind a pay wall and B) never made embeddable by the P-G anyway, because heavens forbid that new audiences learn about their most innovative, experimental content lest it become “viral” (viral is a disease, right?). Actually, some time ago PG+ announced that its content would be made freely available to the tune of 10 pageviews per month per IP address, but even at that, it looks like much of Roddy’s archival content has dissolved.

But enough banging on that drum. I’m sure more than a few of the type of folks who liken Corbett and most Republicans to Nazis will be quick to identify Roddy as his new Goebbels, but I find it pretty darned inspiring that a mature dog can and will learn new tricks — and maybe much more fun tricks at that. A hearty salute!

Do you suppose the P-G will put together any type of send-off / retrospective? If he has any fully fleshed-out thoughts regarding the state of journalism to contribute to the Next Page for example, that would be worth a read.

    Got to love it…

    54 year old.

PS: Got my digits on 3.5 million dollars ‘Green Money“ , Hum-Ha! Roddy like….

    Go Team, Luke!

From what I know of Roddy,

….it was not sin to buy hotdogs nor toss keys to employee to take government car to airport…

    Roddy in defense of Cyril….

    Old guy, knowledge..

    Mary Beth Defense! Chee-key, Chong-a-gong

    Curmudgeons, Wehct and Roddy.

    Grumpy old men….

    Just, say’n.

Buy contrast Peduto, wants to legislate organic gardening…

…really pisses off, old guys like me and Trib Reporter ‘Joe Sabino Mistick‘. So much for Green Legislation…

Peduto is Future? Everyone, once aware, knows he is brain anchor. Listen to your pap…not Idiot.

…And, Peduto is proponent of noise legislation…I find it odd that he waited till Shields was no longer Council-Member…

There is nothing in life more rewarding than plucking egg from underneath hen, while cat meows and hound nips at heels…

…nor the watching of the son (sun) reflect daily upon the message of immigrants that observed the turning of the first to ripen tomato.

    It cause generations to reflect.

Peduto: is blind to proximity that is path to past.

Haha, I was thinking Jim Roddney, Old ACE…Whoops!

P-G Reporter Roddy, Kinda like past reporters going way of politicans. Jack Wagner hired guy naned Dan Donavan(?) when he ran agaiainst Murphy.

Murphy hired guy named Doug Root. Wrote book…..Pa Highways?

Ms. Pro from PG, name recogintion…she and I met in presence of real reporter from Greenfield…O'toole. Shot hops with City Worker: Ingoldsby.

    Not really concerned….

Maybe I was having some fun…Roddy vs Roddney?

    Maybe, me being monk?

I guess, if I were to offer opinion: I would do so as reporter.

Unbiased reporting is new age oxymoron.

Liberals hate Fox, Conservatives hate Main-Stream Reporting.

    It is not (pause)….

    “don't look twice”

    …”it's alright”.

I think it is important when we report news, that we do so on splintered path in shoes worn…

Darlene Harris running for re-election causes me to stumble upon threads worn by time.

Peduto, Shields, and Banging Radiator, Rudiack….

    O)o God Help Us!

I find it queer that Councilman Peduto, so compelled to suggest that pending legislation: that encompasses feelings… needs government intervention, that people would be better left to individual interpretation, escapes rational.

How touched was I that: 'Light Legislation”, would allow me to see stars…And that noise legislation would silence those that wander at night while star-gazers sleep.

That my plot of tomatoes, organic garden, somehow needs legslative fence…

    Get a grip Pittsburgh….
